Our Proven Process


Metropolitan Holdings was founded in 1998 by Matthew R. Vekasy. With $1,500 of capital, he built the Company's first two-family project in the Grandview area of Columbus.


Today, Metropolitan Holdings is a full-service real estate development firm providing development, financial, construction, property and asset management services to the projects the Company develops.


The firm now employs over 60 employees with a leadership team representing all functions of the business. This has allowed the Company to successfully develop over $250M worth of multifamily assets within the Columbus, Dayton, Cincinnati, and Akron markets.

Matt Vekasy

MATT VEKASY

Founder & CEO

Matt is an experienced real estate broker and multifamily builder/ developer who started his career with Casto Communities, a national developer, owner, and manager of retail and multifamily properties. With Casto, he participated in the development and construction of 3,000 new apartments. 


In 1998, Matt built his first 2-family property on Glenn Avenue in the Grandview area of Columbus and formally founded Metropolitan Holdings. From the completion of Glenn Avenue, Metropolitan Holdings has grown into a regionally focused full-service multi-family development, construction, and property management firm focused solely on its projects. 


Matt is a graduate of The Ohio State University Austin E. Knowlton School of Architecture and holds a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture.  

Andrew Lemmon

ANDREW LEMMON

Chief Financial Officer

Andrew oversees all company financial functions; asset management, treasury management, capital planning, investor relations, debt sourcing, and tax planning. Andrew is involved with every project from origination through exit. Before joining Metropolitan Holdings, Andrew worked as a senior manager at KPMG US, where he served an array of clients focusing on real estate, banking, and other financial service industries.


Andrew attended Heidelberg College where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Business Administration. After his time at Heidelberg, Andrew attended The Ohio State University where he obtained a Master of Accounting. Andrew is a Certified Public Accountant. 

Joe McCabe

JOE MCCABE

Vice President, Development

Joe has over 25 years of commercial development and multifamily housing experience developing over 2,800 units throughout North America. As Vice President of Development, he oversees site acquisition, due diligence, market analysis, zoning, obtaining incentives and entitlements, design processes, consultant coordination, and owner representation in the construction administration process.


Joe attended the State University of New York at Buffalo where he obtained his Bachelor of Professional Studies and Master of Architecture. Joe also holds a Certificate in Universal Design and Accessibility from the Center for Inclusive Design and Environmental Access.

Allen Pierron

ALLEN PIERRON

Vice President, Construction

Allen has 15 years of experience in construction and development, focusing primarily on projects in multifamily, senior living, and mixed-use markets. As Vice President of Construction, he is responsible for the successful operation of the Construction Team. This includes oversite and management of all Preconstruction, Field Operations, and Project Management. Allen holds a Bachelor's Degree in Construction Systems Management from The Ohio State University.


Allen completed the Builders Exchange Rising Leaders Program in 2017 and the Executive Leadership Program in 2024. He regularly volunteers coaching youth sports and has participated in several Habitat for Humanity, Make-A-Wish, and Race for the Cure events. 

Jessica Gillis

JESSICA GILLIS

Vice President, Property Management

Jessica has been in property management for over 10 years, starting in the field as a property manager and advancing to various Regional and Director roles working in Conventional, Student, and Construction/New Development. As Vice President of Property Management, Jessica is responsible for guiding, training, and leading the property management team.  Jessica specializes in property cost management, asset preservation, and lease ups of new developments and acquisitions.  Most recently, Jessica was recognized Nationally as a Property Manager Hero by Zego and Paylease. 

Ben Cotton

BEN COTTON

Vice President, Capital Markets

Ben Cotton is a 20-year business development veteran who serves as Vice President of Capital Markets, where he leads all aspects of capital fundraising for new projects. Ben has raised over $650 million in private equity and debt for multifamily projects throughout the Midwest. Before Ben’s pivot into private equity, he was the North American Director of Sales for one of the largest producers of glass and glass products in the world, with responsibility for $500 million in sales.


Ben holds a bachelor's degree in finance from The University of Louisville. He has studied Commercial Leadership at Greenbank, Key Account Management with HEC Paris, and passed FINRA’s SIE, 22, and 63.
