Columbus, Ohio (May 17, 2023) – Creole Kitchen is bringing the New Orleans experience to Main Street Bronzeville. The restaurant, currently located on Mount Vernon Avenue, has signed a lease with Metropolitan Holdings to relocate to Metropolitan’s mixed use development, Ogden Apartments, at 795 East Long Street in the heart of the King-Lincoln Bronzeville neighborhood.

Family owned and operated, Chef Henry Butcher opened Creole Kitchen with his children, Tonya Butcher, Antoinette Parks, and Henry Butcher Junior, in 2006. The restaurant has been cherished by the local community for 17 years, serving authentic Deep South dishes like jambalaya, etouffee, po’boys, and beignets.

Chef Butcher was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he gained his passion for cooking from his grandmother who taught him to make roux, peel shrimp, and descale fish at a young age. Before opening Creole Kitchen, Butcher served Columbus restaurant-goers for over 40 years as a chef for Central Ohio establishments including Tony’s Ristorante in the Brewery District and the now-defunct Ollie’s Grandview Inn.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Chef Butcher and his family,” said Matthew Vekasy, founder and CEO of Metropolitan Holdings. “The restaurant will be a fantastic addition to Ogden, both for our future tenants and for the King-Lincoln Bronzeville community as a whole.”

Metropolitan Holdings began construction on Ogden Apartments in late 2022 and is scheduled to complete construction in the first quarter of 2024. The development will include 72 apartment homes, in addition to Creole Kitchen’s 2,618 square feet of space.
